Asia
We have been to Asia several times, a continent with different cultures. At this page you will find links to our Asian travels.
1990 Our first visit to Asia was in september 1990. A trip toIndonesia. We visited the islands Sumatra, Java and Bali. Before we arrived
there we made a stopover in Singapore. Because 1990 was not yet the internet age, we don't have a travelogue online. There is a page about
Singapore in general though. And three movies (of lesser quality) at our
travel movies page.
1992 In april 1992 we decided to visit the first three motor grandprix races.
The season started in Japan. Our first encounter with this facinating country.
We didn't speak japanese, and they didn't speak english.....
At our
Virtual Tourist page you will find a short travelogue. After Japan it was Australia.
A lot easier, only the fact you can read the signs is relaxing. After Australia it was via Singapore, to
Malaysia. A short visit to Malakka and next to the capital Kuala Lumpur.
2001 In 2001 we thought it was time to visit Japan again. A country
we wanted to see again for 10 years. Because of our language experiences we joined a group.
There is a travelstory of this trip.
2003 In 2003 we have been to Japan for another visit. An indivudial trip, but all
things were arranged in the netherlands by Passaat reizen. We met Yuichi in Tokyo,
and joined a VT meeting in Osaka which was organised by Ayurin. Besides the cities
we also visited smaller villages in the mountains. Pictures can be found at our
Virtual Tourist Japan page
2004 In 2004 we went 4 weeks to China and Tibet with the dutch travelcompany
Baobab.
First the busy Bejing. A small piece of the Great Wall and on to the mystic Tibet.
A trip we will not easily forget. Maybe the 13 travellers was a bad sign.
But after a buscrash, the guide loosing my passport, and the 3 days delay in Nepal
we realy wanted to go home. Then the nepalese customofficers decided we couldn't leave
because our visa was not valid anymore.........
It costed a few dollars and lots of nerve wrecking time, but we just catched our flight home.
Nevertheless it was a nice trip and you should try it once. Read about it in this
travelstory
