We have been to Africa several times,
a continent that stole our heart. This page has links to stories and
pictures of our African travels.
1995 Our first encounter with
Africa was in december 1995. We were invited for a
wedding in South Africa. We decided to attach a vacation of two weeks. From Cape Town
via the Garden route to East London. Via Durban and the Kruger Park we went home again.

1998 Because the African wildernis wouldn't leave our minds we went back in 1998.
This time a grouptrip with Baobab, a dutch tourorganisation,
The trip went through South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana en Namibia.
We made a travelstory about this trip.
1999 The trip through southern african was great, but also very tiring.
The distance were huge, and we thought we should have spent more time at some places.
That is why we decided to go back in 1999. This time a relaxed trip with Afriesj,
another dutch organisation, to Zimbabwe and Botswana. We saw a lot of wildlife and enjoyed the
trip to the Okovango delta and Moremi. A story with lots of pictures can be found
here.
2000 In 2000 we rented a 4x4 with
tents on the roof. And visited South African campgrounds. We camped in several gameparks. Mkuzi was the best, because there is no fence
around the campground!..... It was really wild. A story can be found at this page.

2001 In 2001 we rented a simulair 4x4 and visited mainly the Kruger Park.
In three weeks we cruised through the park and spotted a lot of wildlife.
Pictures at our Kruger Park page at Virtual Tourist.
2002 In 2002 we went camping in South Africa and Swaziland again. This time we
also did some cultural discoveries. The reeddance, performed for the king of Swaziland
was a highlight of this trip. Here
are our pictures.
2004 In 2004 we had the opportunity to visit Tanzania and Kenya. This was an
organised tour to the following gameparks: Lake Manyara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Amboseli, Lake Navaisha and the Masai Mara. Pictures at
Virtual Tourist. A movie by Kees can be found at our movie page.

2006
In september 2006 we went to Madagascar for 26 days with dutch travel organisation Sawadee. Madagascar is an island quite different from the African mainland.
Flora and fauna are unique. People are a mixture between africans and asians. It was a great trip, a story with pictures
can be found
here.

2008 In september 2008 we travelled for 15 days with Erica, Lenie, Marry and Kees
through South Africa. We rented a van and visited several gameparks most of them in Limpopo province.
We made gamedrives in our rental van, in open jeeps and even on a bicycle! A great trip of which you can find a
travelreport here.
2009 In august 2009 Tom had a week of business in Durban, Cape Town and
Johannesburg. We added a week filled with safari. We looked for wildlife in Pilanesberg and Madikwe Game Reserves.
2010 In july 2010 we rented a minivan and together with Peter, Willeke,
Marjolein, Suzan and Marko we traveled 3 weeks through South Africa. We started at Johannesburg International Airport. Our first accomodation was in
the Cradle of the Humankind at the Heia Safari Ranch. After that we moved on to Pilanesberg. After a three day safari in Pilanesberg
we went to the Blyde River Canyon. Our next safari was at Africa on Foot in the Klasserie Game Park, adjacent to the Kruger Park.
After a three day visit to the Kingdom of Swaziland we discovered KwaZulu Natal. Abu Madi, a ranch in the Zululand Rhino Reserve, St.Lucia,
to see the wetlands and from Dundee we visited the Battlefields.
2011 In may 2011 we travelled 10 days through KwaZulu Natal adjacent to Tom's business trip.
From Durban, where we stayed with Hans and Tina, we drov enorth. Two nights at the Abu Madi
Game Ranch, in the Zululand Rhino Reserve. Three nights in Tembe Elephant Park, where we spotted elephant, rhino, buffalo and lion.
And we ended the trip with three nights in St. Lucia where we visited the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, made a boattrip to search for hippo and crocs, and
ofcourse we walked along the beach.
All our pictures and tips about Africa can be found at
our Virtual Tourist pages.
