This page has links to stories and pictures of our African travels.

Our first encounter with Africa was in december 1995. We were invited for a wedding in South Africa. We decided to attach a vacation of two weeks. From Cape Town via the Garden route to East London. Via Durban and the Kruger Park we went home again.

Because the African wildernis wouldn't leave our minds we went back in 1998. This time a grouptrip with Baobab, a dutch tourorganisation, The trip went through South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana en Namibia. We made a travelstory about this trip.

The trip through southern african was great, but also very tiring. The distance were huge, and we thought we should have spent more time at some places. That is why we decided to go back in 1999. This time a relaxed trip with Afriesj, another dutch organisation, to Zimbabwe and Botswana. We saw a lot of wildlife and enjoyed the trip to the Okovango delta and Moremi. A story with lots of pictures can be found here.

In 2000 we rented a 4x4 with tents on the roof. And visited South African campgrounds. We camped in several gameparks. Mkuzi was the best, because there is no fence around the campground!..... It was really wild. A story can be found at this page. rietdans

In 2001 we rented a simulair 4x4 and visited mainly the Kruger Park. In three weeks we cruised through the park and spotted a lot of wildlife. Pictures at our Kruger Park page at Virtual Tourist.

In 2002 we went camping in South Africa and Swaziland again. This time we also did some cultural discoveries. The reeddance, performed for the king of Swaziland was a highlight of this trip. Here are our pictures.

In september 2006 we went to Madagascar for 26 days with dutch travel organisation Sawadee. Madagascar is an island quite different from the African mainland. Flora and fauna are unique. People are a mixture between africans and asians. It was a great trip, a story with pictures can be found here.
