Maastrichts Mooiste 2006
At saturday, June 10 2006, i walked Maastrichts Mooiste, a 20 km walk .
The association Limburgs Landschap celebrates its 75 year jubilee and that is why this
walk is dedicated to the Limburg Landscape. A percentage of the registration fee
goes to the society. At several points along the walk i encountered information points,
where someone of the society would tell about the special things we could see there.
The society is dedicated to preserve the unique landscape around Maastricht, and i think it is worth the attention.

One could choose between a 10 and 20 km route. The
track was layed out at the North-Eastern side of the city Maastricht we went through a unique natural area.
Via the Bemelerberg in Bemelen, we walked passed Terblijt and at Vilt we crossed the
provincial road. From there it went downhill to Valkenburg. A stop at Tivoli, a terrace in woody area, was very welcome.
At Valkenburg we followed the Geul back to the west. Through the nature reserve
Ingendaal. Next we visited a quarry, an interesting talk was held there by volunteers,
and then back to Maastricht. Where a large piece of local cake (vlaai)waited for us.
