MALAYSIA
The bus from Singapore tor Malacca is comfortable.
In 1992 we visited the Moto GP in Malaysia at the Shah Alam circuit, close to Kuala Lumpur. We came from Australia and Singapore. In Singapore we took the bus to Malacca. The bus was very comfortable. But the drivers, they were rather talking to each other than minding the traffic. It often was a close one. When cars from the other side had to move of the road in order to avoid a crash the two drivers had a good laugh about it...... Why there was a second driver never became clear, no driverchanges were made.

Luckely for us there was a short lunchbreak in a roadhouse. But the food didnīt looked well cooked and just to avoid problems we only bought a can of soda and a packet of potatochips.

Malacca When we arrived in Malacca a lady stopped us at the busstation, she had a hotel. Did we need a room? She showed us some pics, it looked clean so we decided to have a look. The rooms were good, especially for this low price.

In Malacca there are many things to be seen from the dutch influence in the colonial period here.

At night there was a big party in the centre of town. A parade was the highlight of the evening.

After the experiences with Malayian busses we decided to take a taxi to Kuala Lumpur. We now know it was not the bus but driving in general that is chaotic. The hotelowner in Malacca told us to check in in a hotel above the bus-and taxi station in KL. It was a good choice. Take the elevator to the first floor and your at the busstation at ground level all kind of taxis are waiting to take you anywhere. They are very loud. If you look like a tourist they all start shooting : TAXI TAXI or IPOH (which is a populair destination). in the background the Sultan Abdul Samed building

We have a look at the city on foot. There is a nice trainstation (left) and the Sultan Abdul Samed building (right) is great.

But it is hot and humid in KL so we head back to the airconditioned hotel.. Sultan Abdul Samed gebouw.

It is that time of the year, it rains every afternoon. And what i mean is rain. It poors for 1 to 2 hours and then it is just as humid and hot as before!

The weather is not optimal for a motocycle race. The circuit is not far from KL and we take a taxi everyday. We have different adventures everyday and the price differs everyday too. The quality of the cars is bad, doors donīt close and are tied with ropes, smoke is coming from the dashboard and lots more....
But when a driver decided to cross a 4 lane motorway because the exit is two kilometers further on ...... thats when we were really frightened. Everybody was very alert and braked just in time so we crossed safely, but we decided not to take this driver anymore.

After a great race we had to go home again.
