At 24 and 25 january 2009 we walked the Egmond Wandelmarathon together with Willeke and Peter.

At friday the 23rd it was rainy and the wind was blowing hard. Not really the kind of weather we ordered for our 2 days of 21 km walking.

But at saturday morning the clowds disappear and not much later we walk on the beach in the sun.

We follow the nordic walking route, the first day we go north. Along the beach to the Kerf and back through the dunes.

After 13 km we arrive in Bergen. This is one of the few places to have a warm cup of coffee. Every 4 to 5 km we encountered a control post, most of them offered a snack, an orange or a bottle of water. But nothing beats the warm coffee with cake we had in a hotel in Bergen.
It is 8 km back to Egmond and the first day is over. It feels shorter and much easiers than in 2008. Maybe we are in better shape.

The north route of saturday.

The southroute of sunday.

The next day, sunday we walk south along the beach to Castricum. It is cold and the wind is coming from the sea, just enough to struggle against it. Here we leave the beach and have a coffee. The dunes in the south of Egmond are less heigh and this route is absolutely easier to walk. It is still early when we order lunch in New West in the centre of Egmond. After the lunch we go for the last stamp and our medal.
