Dam to Dam walk (Dam tot Dam wandeltocht) 2007

At saturday 22 september we walked the Dam to Dam walk. This walk takes you from the Dam in Amsterdam to the Dam in Zaandam. Theere were different distances to choose from 9-18-27 or 40 km. The 9 km didn't satrt in Amsterdam, but only walked through Zaandam. We walked the traditional 18 km, like most of the participants did. The walk was organised by Le Champion.

After a loop in the historical Amsterdam quarter 'de Jordaan' we went along the Prinsengracht and Brouwersgracht to the ferry to get across the IJ. Via the Florapark (along the banks of the Noordhollands Kanaal) the routes of the 18, 26 and 40 km join at Buiksloterbrug. Here you find the authentic wooden Zaan houses, this is also the route for the race the following day. After passing the Dam in Zaandam we walked to the sportcomplex 'de Vang' to collect a lovely medal.
